Materials may be placed onto Course Reserve by your instructor to ensure that the whole class will have access to the required readings. Ask for Course Reserve titles at the Circulation Desk. They're usually available for two hours and must be used in the library. A few items, however, are on reserve with unique loan periods set by the instructor.
TIP: A good first-day-of-school practice is to ask your instructor if items will be placed onto the library's Course Reserve. While students are expected to purchase and read all required textbooks, sometimes a professor places recommended (not required) titles onto Course Reserve.
There's a Course Reserves link on the library homepage. Or, if you are searching [RaiderSearch Catalog], select the [More Searches] menu then choose [Course Reserves] to search for your class, OR, Course Instructor to search by your professor's name.
To place library resources OR personal materials onto Course Reserve, contact Kevin Lyons (616-234-3189).
For assistance into legally adding links to copyrighted information and/or library resources into your Blackboard courses, contact your liaison librarian, or see the Linking Library Resources into Blackboard Subject Guide.
Library staff are working on adding as many textbooks as possible onto Course Reserve. These books can be checked out for 2 hours at a time for use in the Library. The Library has textbooks for all English, Business, Criminal Justice, Math, Psychology, Social Studies, Geography, History, Political Science, English as a Second Language, Anthropology and Developmental Education courses. We have a lot of other textbooks as well—almost 500 total. Use the Course Reserve link to see what we own or call us at 616-234-3872.
