Readers' What?

Readers' Advisory allows us (librarians) to connect you (the reader) to some books you may find worthwhile.  Why?  Well, the value of reading has already been described wonderfully by a number of people:

  • Read in order to live.  Gustave Flaubert
  • I believe that reading and writing are the most nourishing forms of meditation anyone has so far found.  Kurt Vonnegut
  • What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it.  J.D. Salinger
  • There is no Frigate like a Book
    To take us Lands away
Nor any Coursers like a Page
    Of Prancing Poetry.  Emily Dickinson
  • Reading: the exhilaration of one imagination touching another.  William Trevor
  • Choose an author as you choose a friend.  Wentworth Dillon
  • A book is like a garden carried in the pocket.  Chinese proverb
