Linking Library Resources into Blackboard: EBSCOHost eBooks

Populate Blackboard courses with a variety of Licensed Library Databases.

EBSCOHost eBook Collections

eBook Collections - EBSCOhost runs on a “one book – one reader” model. This works fine for smaller classes, but may create accessibility issues if student numbers and/or class sections are larger. Second copies can be licensed if use indicates their necessity. Faculty should contact their liaison librarian.

Discover eBook Collections - EBSCOhost titles with a RaiderSearch Catalog search or through an eBook Collections Databases search. For greater searchability, try the eBook Collections –EBSCOhost link found under [Databases – A to Z.]

GRCC licenses new eBook Collections - EBSCOhost content regularly. Similarly, older titles are weeded from the system. Check the links you create each semester to ensure that the title still is available.

Link the entire book: Locate the title in RaiderSearch Catalog.Ebsco ebooks linking Click into the full bibliographic record, then right-click the [View this book] link and [Copy the link location.] Paste the copied URL link into your Blackboard. Note that each link should start with GRCC’s http://0- prefix.

Note: If the eBook Collections title is being used by someone else, the second user will see a “temporarily unavailable” message on the screen. Follow the screen prompts and leave an email address so you can be notified when the book becomes available. The email message the second user receives will prompt you to click a link to start reading; instead go through Blackboard as the email link does not work and cannot be edited.
